Huie Von Stanley, 81, died Monday, January 8, 2018 in Dalhart, TX Services were held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Denver Ave Church of Christ. Burial did follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart, under the care of Horizon Funeral Home. Huie Von Stanley was born November 10, 1936 in Mount Vernon, TX to Jim Horton Stanley and Dollie Elizabeth Smith Stanley. Huie grew up in New Boston, TX and is a graduate of New Boston Texas High School. Growing up Huie worked as a cowboy, a butcher, a grocery clerk and a truck driver. He earned his bachelor of Science degree from East Texas State University and his Masters of Education from West Texas State University. On March 17th, 1960 Huie married Sylvia Darlene Garrison in Dalhart, TX, she died on March 3rd, 2015. Huie taught 9th grade Physical Science at Allyn Finch Junior High, distributive Education and Ag Coop Training at Dalhart High School before serving as Principal at Allyn Finch Junior High for 11 years. In 1979 Huie took over the position as School and City Tax Assessor Collector and was responsible for computerizing all tax records for City and School district. In 1982 Huie, by contract between Dalhart Independent School District and Dallam County Tax Appraisal District, became Chief Appraiser of Dallam County responsible for computerizing all county tax records and furnishing taxable values to all entities. Huie is a Past XIT Director and life member of the Board, a Rotarian having served as president, a life member of Texas Association of Assessing Officers and is registered with the Board of Tax Assessor Examiners. Survivors include his children Shari Knight and her husband Johnny of Amarillo, TX, Jack Stanley and his wife Kristi of Austin, TX, and Darla Stephens and her husband Jamie of Amarillo, TX. 6 grandchildren Korinne Stanley, Kolton Stanley, Ty Knight, Jayda Knight, Neely Stephens and Ryan Stephens as well a brother Edward Stanley and his wife Kathy of Humble, TX and a sister in law: Ann Garrison of Dalhart, TX. Preceded in death by his wife Darlene Garrison Stanley, his parents, Jim and Dollie Stanley, his brother JT Stanley and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Stanley.
