Hugh L. Gordon, 88 died on Monday, May 5, 2008 in Dalhart, Texas.Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Dalhart, TX, burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.Officiating was Bob McAlister, Minister to Senior Adults, First Baptist Church, Dalhart, Texas. Hugh L. Gordon was born February 29, 1920 in Texhoma, Texas to Gilbert and Mary (Gorman) Gordon. Hugh Served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Emma Zue Stringer on January 20, 1945. Emma Zue died on January 4, 2005. Mr. Gordon has farmed in the Dalhart area since the early 1940's. Hughs involvement in the community included serving on the Coon Memorial Hospital Board, Citizens State Bank Board of Directors, Federal Land Bank Board of Directors, Dalhart Consumers Fuel Association Board of Directors, FSA Board of Directors He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Dalhart and was honored in 1984 as the Dalhart Citizen of the Year.
