Hugh Edd Barber, 91, died Thursday, June 4, 2009 in Dalhart, TXFuneral Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2009 at St. James Episcopal Church. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, Texas.Officiating was The Rev. Philip C. Ray, Rector, St. James Episcopal Church, Dalhart, Texas Hugh Edd Barber was born March 17, 1918 on a Ranch in San Saba County, Texas to Hollis and Mattie (Gay) Barber. Moved to Dalhart in 1927 and graduated from Dalhart High School in 1936. On January 26th, 1941 he married Florence Foulkes in Riverside, California. In September of 1942 he returned to Dalhart. Hugh Edd was a Farmer, Rancher and Oil Man. He was a past XIT Rodeo and Reunion Director, Past Chamber of Commerce Board Member, and a member of St. James Episcopal Church and the New Mexico Horse Breeders Association. He loved to Raise and Run Thoroughbred Race Horses. He is survived by a son- Dick & his wife Rosie Barber of Dalhart, Texas two daughters: Cheryl and her husband Mike Garrison of Conroe, Texas and Nan Barber of San Angelo, Texas 7 Grandchildren: Dale Barber of Dalhart, TX - Lorie and Matt Vincent of Stratford, Texas Russell Barber of Amarillo, Texas Chris Barber and wife JoAnna of Tulsa, Oklahoma Leslie Brooks of Montgomery, Texas Jay and Kristi Garrison of Willis, Texas Jeff Garrison of Bedford, Texas7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren -And Many loved nieces, nephew, and friends.
