Hudson “Doc” Wade Maurer finished his little race here on earth on March 6, 2026. Though his time with us was short, his life was full of love, and like the great racers he was named after, Hudson’s journey is one that will never be forgotten.

A service celebrating Hudson’s life will be held at 5:00 PM on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Channing, with Pastor Jacob Vincent officiating. Burial will follow at Channing Cemetery.

Hudson will lie in state from noon until 5:00 PM on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Dalhart Funeral Home Chapel. Following the viewing, the family invites friends and loved ones to remain until 7:00 PM for a time of fellowship, remembrance, and support.

Hudson’s final arrangements are entrusted to Dalhart Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

In his 27 short days, Hudson filled the world around him with more love than words can measure. His favorite things were being held close, snuggling in warm arms, and watching the lights change colors around him. To those who loved him, he was nothing less than perfect.

Though his time here was brief, Hudson’s tiny life left a forever mark on the hearts of his family. His little feet may have only touched the earth for a short while, but now they run freely on the streets of gold.

As Doc Hudson once said, “There’s a lot more to racing than just winning.” Hudson’s race may have been short, but the love he left behind will last forever.

Our hearts ache deeply for him, and the silence he leaves behind is heavy. No parent should ever have to say goodbye to their child. Yet we hold onto the promise that this goodbye is not forever.

Hudson “Doc,” until the day we see you again, your race will always live on in our hearts.

Hudson is lovingly remembered by his brother, Clayton Maurer; sister, Abigail Maurer; father, Marc Maurer; and mother, Trinity McCarty. He is also survived by his Pop Pop, Rick McCarty; Grammy, Kathy McCarty; Paw Paw Nick and CiCi Christa Warren; uncle Ethan Moreau and aunt Aspen Moreau; aunt and uncle Jerod and Brittany McCarty; cousins Jacob, Jordan, Charlie, Matthew, Scarlett, and Blessing McCarty; uncle Tanner McCarty; aunt Sandra McCarty; and cousins Solomon and Trevin McCarty.

Hudson was welcomed into heaven by his grandfather Jack Wayne McCarty, grandmother Charlotte Grace McCarty, grandpa Blaine Wade Maurer, and uncle Sonny Wade Maurer.
