Terrell Hoyt Davis SR. passed away in Dalhart August 25, 2015 at the age of 82. Graveside services were held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 28, 2015 in Dalhart Memorial Park Cemetery. Hoyt was born on March 4, 1933 in Dalhart Texas to Roy Davis and Reba Peden Davis. Hoyt graduated from Stratford High School in 1951, went to Texas Christian University for 1 year and then joined the United States Air Force in December of 1953.He married Mary Alene Reilman on October 2, 1954 in Dalhart, Texas and to this marriage had 2 sons, Terry and Bernard. While in the Air Force, Hoyt had tours of duty in Korea, Vietnam, Japan, Thailand and France. It was during his 3 years in France when his family was able to be with him. He was the first NCO to be assigned to the Air Force Plant Representatives Office at General Dynamics in Fort Worth, Texas. He was mainly stationed on bases in Texas and New Mexico. A highly decorated veteran, Hoyt was nominated for Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force. He retired after 20 and a half years of honorable service in April of 1974. He returned to Dalhart in April of 1974 and was engaged in farming in the Conlen community until 1991 when he sold the farm. He drove truck for several companies to stay busy after selling the farm. Hoyt is survived by his wife Alene of the home and by his 2 sons Terrell H Davis Jr (Terry) and his wife Nancy of Dumas, Texas and Roy Bernard Davis and wife Debbie of Dalhart, Texas and adopted son Bobby Beattie of Dalhart Texas. Four grandsons, Roy Lynn Davis and wife Christina of Dalhart, Texas, Terrell H. Davis III (Chance) wife Brandi of Dalhart, Texas, Brandon Davis and wife Lauren of Tacoma, Washington, Daniel Davis of Dumas, Texas and Ryan Beattie and wife Lindy of Dalhart Texas and granddaughter-in-law Devon Davis Mossman and husband Kevin of New York. He leaves behind sixteen great grandchildren, one Aunt Eva Davis of Dalhart, Texas, brother in-law Dick Railsback of Amarillo, Texas, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Hoyt was preceded in death by his parents, grandson David Alan Davis, and sister Peggy Joyce Railsback.Family Requests Memorials to;David Davis Memorial ScholarshipC/O First State BankDalhart, Texas 1601 E 16th.Dalhart, Texas 79022
