Hobert L. Brown, Sr., 82 of Dalhart, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 11:00AM, Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Denver Ave Church of Christ with Rev. Vernon Conner, Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Brown will lay in state from noon until 8:00PM on Monday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home. Mr. Brown is predeceased by his parents Hubert and Roberta Brown Sr., 2 brothers Herbert and Frank Brown, and a sister Johnnie Mae Brown. Left to cherish his memory are his spouse, Esther Lee Brown, 1 brother, Hubert Jr., 3 sisters, Mary Pearl Wilson (Dobbie), Eva Holman and Linda Jowers, 3 sons, Hobert Jr. and Ronald Brown, Michael Thompson and 2 daughters Marzella Thompson and Andrea Brown Swanner, 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Brown was a servant and friend of the community. He served as President of the Good Samaritan Association, served on the boards of the Dalhart Voluntary Fire Department and the Dallam County Childcare Center, and a member of the School Board. He was a faithful member of the former New Light Baptist Church. He served as Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon and later caretaker of the property. He worked as a farm hand for F.L. Jolley for 23 years, 12 years for Hartley County and several stints with the Machine Shop, the Dollar Store, Hilmar Cheese Company and Best Western. He loved the outdoors, gardening, working on cars, estate sales and antiques but his greatest joy was his family. To plant Memorial Trees in memory of Hobert L.
