A memorial service for Herbert Elmer Vines will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Liberty Baptist Church, 12020 US-87, Dalhart, TX. Pastor Matt Moore officiating.

Herbert was born on December 17, 1947, in Memphis, TX to Elmer and Earlean Vines and passed this life on Friday, May 17, 2024. He grew up on a cotton farm in Hall County, TX in Brice. He attended school in Clarendon, TX. He married Carol Vines in 1975 in Amarillo, TX.

Hebert worked as a cowboy and ranch hand on numerous ranches over many years including ranch foreman for the Shelton Ranch east of Nara Visa, NM which was the Ojo Bravo Camp of the original XIT Ranch. His passion was horses and the ranch way of life. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his friends.

Herbert was a true cowboy and a true friend. He would go help his friends at the drop of a hat no matter how long the task or how hard. He enjoyed spending time with them and having some coffee and good conversation.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Carol Vines of Dalhart, TX. His daughter Karen of Amarillo, TX Sister, Carolyn Coleman and husband Max of Ponca City, OK, numerous nephews and his stepdaughter Janice Warfield and husband Scott of Enid, OK and family.
