Helen Newman Moon, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2013 in Dalhart Texas.Services were held Saturday December 14, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Lincoln Street Baptist Church. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart.Helen Davis was born in Oklahoma on November 4, 1929 to Jim W. and Annie Mae (Ridenhour) Davis. She grew up and graduated from High School in Dalhart, Texas. Helen was an avid bowler and participated in bowling leagues and many local, regional, state and national tournaments. She participated in many activities of the Bunkerhill community including the Extension Homemakers Club, being a 4-H mom and leader for her sons and helping the community vacation bible school. She was a member of the Dalhart Elks Lodge. She married Harley Newman on March 11,1949. They had five children; four boys and one daughter. Harley passed away in 1984. She was remarried to Parker Moon on March 17, 2000, who passed away on December 26, 2010.Helen is preceded in death by her Daughter Letha Newman, her parents, her husbands, one sister, one granddaughter Kristi Newman, and one Great grandson Dooley Griggs. She is survived by her four sons, Dr. Donald Newman of Hobbs, NM and his wife Terri, Michael Newman of Dalhart, TX and his wife Shirley, Dr. Kerry Newman of Gatesville, TX and his wife Christina, Terry Newman of Dalhart, TX and his wife Chellie, one brother Wual G. Davis of Dumas, TX and his wife Marie. Seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Helen Newman Moon was dearly loved and will be missed by all.
