Helen Lowrey, 75, died Thursday, April 17, 2014 in Dalhart, TXGraveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Hartley Cemetery, Hartley, TX. Officiating will be Barry Walker. Arrangements by Horizon Funeral Home. Helen June Batis was born April 15, 1939 in Dalhart, TX to Alvin and Freda (Pemberton) Batis. She grew up in Dalhart; Helen met and married James Lowrey on April 28, 1957 in Clayton, NM, they moved to Hartley, TX the same year. James and Helen had four daughters. She loved to play the piano and make quilts. Helen was known for writing letters and cards to family and friends, she loved spending time with her family and talking to them as often as she could. Helen was a member of the First Christian Church in Dalhart, TX. She had a very big heart and will be dearly missed. Helen is preceded in death by her parents and three sisters. Survivors include her husband James Lowrey of Hartley, TX, her daughters- Bonnie Price of Dalhart, TX, Tammy Stewart of Channing, TX, Connie Thompson of Dalhart, TX, and April Diane Reyna of Lockney, TX. Nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
