Helen Arnold Firestone, age 75, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, June 20, 2016 in Dalhart Texas.Services were held Friday, June 24, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Lakeview United Methodist Church. Burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home.Helen Arnold was born in Dierks, AR on October 25, 1940 to Carl & Alice (Graves) Arnold. She graduated from Dierks High School and Henderson State Teachers College with a degree in elementary education. She worked on her masters degree at Arkansas State University. She taught 3rd grade at Southward Elementary in Dalhart for several years and later became a substitute teacher, which allowed her to dedicate her time and devotion to her family. Helen volunteered with the Girl Scouts and helped her husband with the Boy Scout work, as well. She was a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church and sang in the choir and taught Sunday School classes for many years. She met Charles in a Sunday School class when she began teaching in Dalhart and when he came back from active duty with the Marine Corps. Charles and Helen were married on August 8, 1964. They were happily married for 51 years and 10 months. Helen was a loving and caring teacher, mother, grandmother, prayer warrior, wife and friend who was thoughtful of others and cherished spending time with her grandchildren. Helen Firestone was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Charles Firestone of Dalhart, daughter Melanie and her husband, Daniel Link of Alhambra, CA, son Brent Firestone and wife, Stacey of Amarillo, brother Glen David Arnold and wife, Linda of Dierks, AR. She is also survived by 3 granddaughters Emma & Ravyn Firestone, Ashlon Tompkins and 1 grandson Bay Tompkins as well as several nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her parents Carl and Alice Arnold and a grandson Gage Firestone.
