Harold Hudgins, 91, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in Amarillo, Texas. Funeral Services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Hartley Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Tubbs officiating. Burial was in the Hartley Cemetery - Arrangements by Horizon Funeral Home. Harold was born April 27, 1926 in Tyler, TX to Mr. & Mrs. J.W. Hudgins. The family moved to the Coldwater Community in 1930 where Harolds father did road construction work. In 1941 they moved to Dalhart and bought a shoe repair shop. Harold worked in the shop, attended school and worked on a farm in Hartley. Harold joined the US Navy in September 1944 and served in Australia, Japan, the Persian Gulf and the Hawaiian Islands. In 1946, after his service in the Navy, he returned to the Hartley area and continued farming. It was during this time he met his future wife Betty Bryant. They were married February 10, 1949. Her parents were Gardie N and Myrtle Bryant of Hartley. In the spring of 1949 Harold and Betty moved to a farm 7 miles SW of Hartley (known as the old Hurd Place), where they continued to live and raise their family. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Ward. Survivors include his wife Betty of Hartley, TX ; his children, Nicki Hudgins & husband Virgil Bartlett of Amarillo, TX, Peggy Holland & husband Eddie of Bluffton, TX, Mike Hudgins of Kennesaw, GA and Chris Miller & husband Clifton of Hartley, TX; three grandchildren Kimberly Pierron & husband Eric of Georgetown, TX, Andrew Miller of Canyon, TX, & Bradley Miller & wife Kara of Hereford, TX; Four great-grandchildren Christopher Pierron, Kiersten Pierron, Jace Miller and Addilyn Miller.
