Graydon L. Ulrey, 86, died Friday, February 8, 2013 in Amarillo, TX Graveside service were held on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 10:00 am at Memorial Park Cemetery Dalhart, TX. Under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, Texas. Officiants were Steve, Bill and Bob Ulrey.Graydon was born January 12, 1927 in Martinsville, IL to Gould and Nellie (Hull) Ulrey. Graydon graduated Martinsville High School and attended the University of Illinois. He married Marjorie Swope September 11, 1948 in Casey, Illinois. He accepted Christ and joined the Methodist Church in his teens and lived a life of faith. He was very proud that his three sons are ministers of the gospel and his daughter serves as a nurse. He was a longtime member of Dalhart Central United Methodist Church. He was a member of Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Ulrey ran his own farming operation from 1948-1963, then was employed by Richview Farms dairy from 1964-1972 and was a heavy equipment operator in highway construction for 3 years before he worked for The General Tire and Rubber Company tire manufacturing plant until 1982 when he moved to Dalhart and began working as a night watchman with XIT Feeders Dalhart, Texas until retirement in 1992.He is preceded in death by: parents and one brother Gould Ulrey, Jr., and daughter-in-law Julie UlreySurvivors include Marjorie Ulrey, wife of 64 years, one daughter Mary Ulrey of Amarillo, three sons Steve Ulrey of Albany, Texas, Bill and wife Janie of Loveland, Colorado, and Bob and wife Sally of Campo, Colorado; seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Juanita McNary of Marshall, Illinois and Marjorie Ulrey of Centralia, Illinois.Family request memorials be made to a favorite ministry or church.
