Gloria Mae Bayne was born in Ulysses, Kansas January 26th 1928 to George and Avie Denney Gollihar. Gloria passed away January 25, 2024, 1 day short of her 96th birthday. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 2:00PM on Monday, January 29, 2024 with Clay Lobley, Minister, Dalhart Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home.

Carl Bayne and Gloria Mae Gollihar were married in Clovis, NM October 5, 1945. They were long-time residents of Dallam County. Gloria worked as an old-time telephone operator. She enjoyed writing stories and published a book. She was a good cook and an accomplished seamstress. She took food to the sick and shared the bounty from her garden and fruit trees. She was a faithful member of the Dalhart church of Christ. They had two daughters, Carolyn Elliott and Shannon Graham. Grandchildren are Aimee Elliott and Ross and Samantha Graham. Great Grandchildren are Toby Elliott; Cayda, Ryan, James, and Laci Graham; and Shaelee, Kaelyn, and Hunter McElroy.

Gloria has one sister Kathryn Agnes Struck of Boise, Idaho. Gloria was the oldest daughter of the 8 Gollihar children and Kathryn was the youngest daughter. They often talked about how Gloria raised Kathryn.

Gloria has one 98-year-old brother-in-law, Henry Lee Bayne. Henry and his wife used to come here to help Carl and Gloria during harvest because they were very close family.

Gloria is also survived by her dear friend, Eileen Vinson. Eileen was a lifelong friend who was consistently by her side.

Gloria is preceded in death by her husband Carl, her daughter Carolyn, and her parents. Her brothers: George Chesley, Mank William, and Jerry Wayne and her sisters: Mary Florence Holt, Myrtle Maxine Obreicht, and Connie Lee Strom all preceded Gloria in death.
