Glenna Jo (Willoughby) Wing was born on November 23, 1932, near Benomine, Texas to Ralph Oliver and Dorothy (Feilner) Willoughby. Raised in the New Franklin, Missouri area, Jo married Larry Moss Wing on February 8, 1953, in Boonville, Missouri. Jo and Larry moved to Dalhart, Texas to manage and eventually purchase Cattlemans Livestock Commission Company. Jo was assistant manager and bookkeeper for the auction and their numerous cattle and horse businesses.
Jo was a longtime member of the First Christian Church. She was co-founder and member of the High Plains Ranchers and Breeders Association, lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association, member of the American Paint Horse Association, an avid supporter of all types of youth programs that included Texas and New Mexico High School Rodeo programs, 4-H programs, XIT Rodeo and Reunion, many of the Dalhart sports teams, and numerous others. She and Larry were known for their generous hearts but especially for their generosities to children or anyone in need.
Jo Wing passed from this life December 16, 2020. A graveside celebration of life was held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart, Texas. Visitation was Tuesday, December 22, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Horizon Funeral Home in Dalhart, Texas.
Jo is survived by her daughter Cyndi and Clayton Ward of Dalhart, TX, son Moss Wing of Dalhart, TX, son Matt Wing and Jeana of Amarillo, TX, son Mike Wing and Terri of Dalhart, TX. Brothers: Gene Willoughby and wife Maryann of Hugoton, KS and Jim Willoughby and wife Cara of Bowie, TX, a sister; Jill Schumaier of Frontnec, MO, 13 grandchildren: Taylor and Blade; Kabel, Chyna and Kelsi; Sara, Cole, Clay and Shala; Stormy, Laramie, Tex and Bay, 22 great grandchildren: Ali, Fray, Levi, Ava and Ryatt; Cy, Layla, Cayle and Coy; Corey and Lexi; Kooper and Gunner; Suede; Paislee; Caidyn, Ryder and Brogan; Kain, Pierce and Diesel; and another great grandbaby soon. 2 great great grandchildren: Axl and Abel; many nieces, nephews and tons of great friends.
Jo is preceded in death by her husband Larry Wing and her parents, Ralph and Dorothy Willoughby.
