Glenda "Tick" Williamson Coffee, 83, of Dalhart, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 surrounded by her daughters. Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, Texas. Officiating was by Rusty Hancock, Pastor of Lincoln Street Baptist Church, Dalhart, Texas. ~ Arrangements entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, Texas. Glenda "Tick" Williamson was born in Chickasha, OK on Monday, February 12, 1934 to Jim & Mary Lou (Fagan) Williamson. Glenda has always had a love of horses it was born in her. Her mother was raised on a ranch and often helped move cattle. As a young person she had a horse that she shared with her younger sister. When Glenda met and married Melvin Bachman in the mid 50s she became a horse woman. She studied horse breeding and training by reading the Quarter Horse Journal from cover to cover. She was always so excited at the first of each month to get her monthly QHJ. She became one of the first women that day-worked wheat field cattle in the Dalhart area for the Chisum family. She became one of the top barrel horse trainers of this area. She has trained and sold top horses from all over the United States. She won many awards in all phases of western showmanship. Her 3 children followed suite and won many awards in the American Quarter Horse Association. While her children were young Glenda was a leader of the Dallam-Hartley Counties 4-H horse program; where she taught many young children the fundamentals of all around horse care and showmanship. Glenda also was one of the organizers for the XIT Little Britches Rodeo for several years. She continued to ride, train and compete in barrel racing along with her youngest daughter, Roberta until 2000. In 2010 Glenda was crowned the XIT Queen for Coon Memorial Nursing Home. She noted that her favorite color was blue, her favorite food was chili and her favorite animal was a horse. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, was a member of the Birders Association, enjoyed going to Crazy Bunco, sing a longs and doing crafts and participating in many of the activities at the nursing home. Tick is survived by her son, Wayne Johnson & his wife, Beverly of Amarillo, her daughter, Emma Lou Briggs of Dallas, TX and her daughter, Roberta Hollers of Dalhart, TX. 4 Grandchildren- Jay Johnson & his wife, Jamie, Melissa Johnson Sisneros & husband, Steven, Brent Briggs of Dallas, TX and Leslie Briggs of Frisco, TX. 5 Great grandchildren- Brett Johnson of Dalhart, Brittany Johnson, Payton Maxwell, Melody Gonzales of Amarillo and Katherine Montoya of Amarillo as well as 1 Great Great grandchild- Avah-Rose Powers. Tick is also survived by her sister Lowell Ann Robertson of Dalhart and long-time friend and companion Bill Lamb, her brother JR "Butch" Williamson Jr. of Seattle, WA and many nieces and nephews. Tick is preceded in death by her parents and half-brother, Robert Dawson. Donations to Coon Memorial Nursing Home in lieu of flowers. May God Bless You.
