Geraldine Simmons Childers passed into the arms of her Lord on November 10, 2012 at the age of 98 in Amarillo, Texas Graveside services for the family were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, Texas. A Celebration of Life service was at 11:00 a.m., November 13, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Dalhart with Brent Childers, officiating. Geraldine was born August 21,1914 in Santa Anna ,Texas to William Albert and Lula Jones Simmons. The family moved to Hartley, Texas and while attending Hartley High School, she met the love of her life, A.F. Childers. They were married on June1,1930. Geraldine loved her God and her family. She was a long time member and worker in First Baptist Church. She was happiest when surrounded by her family. When this large family gathered, she would often laughingly remark I was an only child and look what I started She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Larry and Dale Childers and 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She is survived by four children. Gerald Childers of Amarillo, Faye Cartrite and husband Kent of Sunray, Jo Palmer of Salt Lake City Utah, and Brent Childers and wife , Leslie of Amarillo; Two daughters-in-law, Frances Childers and Linda Childers, both of Dalhart; Twenty-one grandchildren, Fifty-four great-grandchildren and fifty-one great-great-grandchildren.
