Gene Ogle, 84, died Thursday, September 19, 2013 at San Gabriel Rehabilitation and Care Center in Round Rock, Texas. Funeral Services were held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the First Baptist Church. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, TXGene Ogle was born September 2, 1929 in Pennington Community near Clayton, New Mexico to Lewis Richard and Fannie Marie (Collins) Ogle. He graduated from Dalhart High School in 1948. On June 10, 1951 he married Shirley Ann Wilcoxson in the choir room at the First Baptist Church in Dalhart. Gene served in the Army in 1948 for one year and was called back for another fourteen months during the Korean War. He was stationed in Texas and Oklahoma.Gene worked in the grocery business before working for his brother, James, at All Day Cleaners. After more than forty years, he retired. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church where he was a deacon. While his wife, Shirley sang in the choir, Gene lent his beautiful voice to narrating Christmas cantatas. He loved trading cars, collecting antiques, trips to the mountains, and spending time with family. Friends and family remember his sense of humor and contagious smile.He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Shirley, and his brother, James.Survivors include daughter Carol Ann Brubaker and her husband James of Round Rock, CO, and a granddaughter Tiffany Brubaker of Aurora, CO.
