Garry Lee Ames, 63, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021 in Dalhart, Texas with loved ones by his side. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Dalhart, Texas. Burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Garry Lee Ames began his life on Saturday, June 29, 1957 as the third son born to Tommy and LaNita (Stone) Ames along with his twin brother and partner in crime Larry Dee. Through out their lives it seems that they were always together in whatever they did, where one went so did the other.
Garry graduated from Felt High School in 1976 and later became a carpenter and contractor for most of his adult life. He enjoyed anything to do with water: swimming, boating, waterskiing, and fishing and just being free to enjoy the outdoors with whomever, whenever he could. He also loved the mountains no matter what time of year it was. He loved spending time working on building a family cabin outside of Eagles Nest, New Mexico and playing in the snow. Garry was a free spirit, and he loved helping people out in any way he could, strangers or friends, he had a heart as good as gold and was willing to go out of his way to do whatever he could. He had a kind and caring soul once you saw beyond his outer demeanor. On May 16th, 2021 we had to say goodbye one last time when he was once again reunited with his twin brother. We love and miss them both, but I do believe that they are once again happy together. ~Goodbye Brother
Garry is survived by his children: son, Todd Ames and wife Desarai of Leander, TX and daughter, Amanda Lynn Parrish and husband Blake of Lubbock, TX, 11 grandchildren: Brittney, Christian, Braelin, Courtney, Kayden, Whittney Michaela, KateLynn, Matthew, McKinzee and Gwynn, his mother, LaNita Ames of Dalhart, TX, two brothers: Tommy Lee Ames of Bentonville, AR and Dean and wife Gay Ames of Dalhart, TX and to many nieces and nephews to count.
