Garre Dale Shepherd - 54Memorial Services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Channing, TX with retired minister Bobby Miller officiating. Garre Dale Shepherd was born on June 13, 1960 in Amarillo, TX. He died the last part of December 2014 in Garland, TX.Garre grew up in Channing, he was active in 4-H & youth rodeos and was the Hartley County 4-H Gold Star Boy and was undefeated in goat tying. He graduated in 1978 from Channing High School. He then went to Frank Phillips College on a music scholarship and traveled with the New Dawn Singers. While at Frank Phillips he was chosen Mr. Plainsman in 1979. A talented guitarist Garre played with Eloy and the Troubadours for 10 years. In 1981 he moved to Amarillo where he received his degree in Electronics. Garre moved to Dallas and began working for PTL Electronics until 2004. In February of 2005 Garre began working for the Texas Criminal Justice System at the Hutchins State Prison. Garre loved to ride his motorcycle to Alpine with his friend, Kelly Mickey.Survivors include his parents Frank and Mozelle Shepherd of Channing, TX. A brother Steve Shepherd of Dalhart, TX and a half-sister Paula Elkins, as well as numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends.He is preceded in death by his grandparents Jim and Ruby Cannon and Richard and Virginia Shepherd.
