Floyd Holt Richards, 91, Died on Wednesday, May 31st, 2006 in Dalhart, Texas.Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006 at the First Baptist Church. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, Texas under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, Texas. Officiating was Rodney Weatherly, Pastor, of the First Baptist Church, Dalhart, TXFloyd Holt Richards was born on March 8, 1915 in Dalhart, Texas to B. N. and Clara (Wood) Richards. Mr. Richards was raised in Dalhart and after he graduated form Dalhart High School he received his degree from Texas Tech and his post Law Degree from The University of Texas. Mr. Richards was County Attorney before WWII began. During WWII he served in the US Air Force and received many medals including the Silver Star. He flew over 40 combat missions before returning to Dalhart in 1945. Floyd Holt Richards married Novelyn Holloway in April of 1944 in Barksdale Field, LA. They returned to Dalhart where Mr. Richards served the Dalhart Community as District Attorney, County Attorney and private practice attorney. He was involved in the community at every level, from service clubs like the Rotary Club to being Vice President of the Chamber of commerce. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church and will be remembered by his family and friends for his quick wit, great sense of humor, and his love for life, family and friends. A close friend commented when he heard Floyd Holt had died Dalhart just lost a great asset, neighbor, and confidantSurvivors include Sons: Mark Richards of Amarillo, TX and Jim Richards of Miami, FL and a granddaughter: Drs. Reagann and Jon McCreary of Indianapolis, IN. Preceded in death by his wife Novelyn, his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
