On this day, June 19th, 2024, Floy Leabelle (Sluder) Finch was greeted by our Heavenly Father and is once again united with her husband Mr. O.H. Finch.

Floy Leabelle Sluder Finch was born in Olton, Texas on April 7, 1936, to Tom Sluder and Floy (Wozencraft) Sluder. She graduated from Olton High School Class of 1954 and went to West Texas State College, earning her bachelor's degree of Science in Home Economics with a multi-level teacher certificate. Leabelle met Orville Henry Finch while teaching in Dalhart in 1958 and they were married on February 28th, 1960. They had two children, Carl Finch, and Donna Finch Loven, and later helped raise their grandson, Taylor Sewell.

It is without a doubt that Leabelle led a life with a servant's heart serving at Central United Methodist Church, volunteering at Allyn Finch Intermediate School in the HOSTS (Help One Student To Succeed) reading program, and 50 years with the Las Viajeras, Texas Federation of Women's Club, and was recognized as an Honorary Life Member of the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers to promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, church, and community.

She spent her last three years in Ponder, TX with her Grandson Taylor Sewell, his wife Stephanie Sewell, and her two great-grandsons Trae and Ty Sewell.

Leabelle was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Floy Sluder of Olton, TX, brother Tommy Sluder of Olton, TX, daughter Donna Finch Loven of Dalhart, TX, and husband Orville Henry Finch Jr. of Dalhart, TX. Leabelle is survived by her son Carl Finch and wife Michelle, two sisters Diana Gheer and Peggy Kraatz, three grandchildren Taylor Sewell and wife Stephanie, Maegan Frische and husband Gene, Caleb Finch and wife Staci, and eight great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Leabelle's life will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 27 at Central United Methodist Church, 517 Rock Island Avenue, Dalhart with Pastor Ryan Strebeck officiating. Burial will be at Dalhart City Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 PM Wednesday, June 26 at Horizon Funeral Home, 701 Elm Avenue, Dalhart.
