Fleta Parker, 87, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 in Dalhart, Texas.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the Central United Methodist Church in Dalhart, Texas Burial did to follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, Texas. Officiating was by Rev. Steve Patterson of Central United Methodist Church. Arrangements provided by Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, Texas.
Fleta and her twin sister, Flora, were born at the family home near Laverty, OK on April 16th, 1930 to Claude & Annie (Chambless) Frasure.
Fleta was graduated from Ninnekah High School in Oklahoma in 1948. She married Cecil Parker in April 1950. He went to work with a Seismic crew that was in Calgary, Alberta, Canada three months later. They moved many times in the next 5 years. The children were all born in different states. Fleta insisted on putting down roots when their oldest child started school; thus Dalhart, TX became their home in 1957.
Fleta held various retail clerk jobs in Dalhart, was a successful AVON lady for many years, and was a watercolor artist. She enjoyed taking art classes as well as arranging for artists to teach classes in the Dalhart area; was a charter member of the Dalhart Fine Arts Association; received awards at the Boise City and Clayton Art Shows; and she gave demonstrations in many elementary classrooms. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and spent a lot of time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Fleta was a long-time member of Lakeview Methodist Church; but became a member at Central Methodist in her later years.
Travel was one of Fletas joys in life. She and Cecil enjoyed several bus tour trips with other Dalhart area residents; and she continued taking these trips after Cecil passed away. She also traveled throughout the US, to visit friends and family throughout her lifetime.
Fleta is survived by her twin sister, Flora Frasure of Chickasha, OK, sisters-in-laws, Betty Lou Helms, CA, and Marilyn Frasure, CA, brother-in-law, Horace Parker, OK., sons Gary (Eileen) Littleton, CO and Dale (Dora) Dalhart, and daughter Patty Cox (Mike) Plano, TX, grandchildren: Jackie Cox Ridgell (Bryan) Maryland, Jessica Parker Sides (Jerrett) Stinett, TX, Amber Parker Wilson (Adam) Moline, KS, Scott (Susan) Parker , Calgary, CAN, and Tim (Anne) Parker, Denver, CO; 10 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
