Fermin Fidel Montano, 88, died Sunday, October 16, 2016 at his home in Canyon, Texas. Prayer Vigil was held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Dalhart, Texas. Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 21, 2016 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Dalhart, Texas and burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, Texas. Arrangements are by Horizon Funeral Home. Officiating - Monsignor Michael Colwell, Pastor - St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Dalhart, Texas.Fermin Montano was born December 28, 1927 in Albert, NM to Eusebio & Isabellita (Bueno) Montano. Fermin graduated from Mosquero High School in 1944. On May 20, 1950 Fermin married Rebecca Cordelia Fuentes at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Dalhart, TX. Fermin worked at the Dalhart Consumer Co-Op as a Service Technician for over 30 years. Fermin loved to go fishing and golfing. He also loved spending time with his family. Rebecca passed away in December 2007. Fermin and Rebecca were blessed with 3 sons, 3 daughters, 18 grandchildren & 14 great-grandchildren during there 57 years together. Fermin is survived by his 3 sons- James Montano of Amarillo, Kendall Montano of Amarillo, Max Montano and his wife, Kimber of Canyon and 2 daughters- Loretta Moreno and her husband Joe of Amarillo and Sandy Niavez and her husband Steve of Amarillo and 1 sister- Flora Baca of Albuquerque, NM. Fermin is also survived by 18 grandchildren: Ethan, Evan, Steve Jr., Samuel, Stanley, Stephanie, Selena, Sarah, Michael, Thomas, David, Charlene, Marsha, Daniel, Meagan, Tiffany, Jason, Tracy and 14 great grandchildren: Esteban, Alexcia, Victoria, Andrew, Jacob, Alyssa, Skyler, Rayson, Weston, Mariah, Matthew, Vennai and Zachery. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca, his daughter, Linda Tomlin, his parents and 9 siblings.
