Faye Belle Davis Smith, 99, died Sunday, March 28, 2010 in Shattuck, OK.Funeral services were held in Dalhart, Texas at the Church of Christ, Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Interment was in the Dalhart Memorial Cemetery. Faye Belle Davis Smith was born March 23, 1911 in Lincoln County Oklahoma to Edward and Katie (Stouder) Herald. Her family moved to Hooker, Oklahoma where she was raised. She married Paul Ellsworth Davis on April 18, 1928. They had a daughter, Marie Lyvonne,1929, and a son, Freddie Harold Davis, 1930. They were farm people and lived through the dust bowl days. Son, Darrell Dean Davis was born in 1940 in Hooker, OK.They moved to the Rehm community ,southwest of Dalhart to farm in the 40s. Daughter; Bonnie Faye was born in 1950 in Dalhart. Faye was a USDA poultry inspector, a member of the Rebecca Lodge, member of the Dalhart Church of Christ, and she did quilting at the Dalhart Senior Citizens Club.P.E. passed away in 1972. She married Dade Smith in 1976. He passed away in 1989. She stayed with her daughter, Marie, in Shattuck for a while, then with her son, Harold, in Amarillo, for a period of time. She stayed with Bonnie, in Saginaw, for a couple of years. Her last couple of years were in the Shattuck Nursing Center.She is survived by three children; daughters; Marie and husband, Gerald Casey of Shattuck, OK, Bonnie and husband, Johnny Farrar of Saginaw, TX, son, Darrell Davis and wife Carole (Gustin) Davis of Lubbock, TX and daughter-in-law, Lucy Davis. 14 Grandchildren: Trudy and husband Temple Appel of Shattuck, Toni Mingus of Shattuck, Debbie and husband Gary Adams of Lubbock, Danny and wife Laurie of Dickens, TX, Sally and husband Randy Wilson, of Amarillo, TX, Andrew Davis of Amarillo, Phillip and wife Kay Davis of Iraan, TX, Linda Faye and husband Ken Yoder of Lewistown, PA, Brenda Luna of Hereford, TX, Jeromy and wife, Jennifer Moon of Pflugerville, TX, Paige and husband Michael Bontrager of Bushland, TX, Shawn and wife Tiki Farrar, Joe and wife Theresa Farrar of Amarillo, TX, 31 Great -grandkids, 35 Great- great grandkids and two great-great-great grandkids. Preceded in death by: spouse, Paul E. Davis; spouse, Dade Smith; son, Freddie Harold Davis; parents, 5 brothers: Walter, Floyd, Roy, Clarence, and Everett Herald; one sister, Goldie Gantt of Hooker, OK; one son-in-law, Gene Stalder of Shattuck, OK; one grandson, one granddaughter and one great-great granddaughter.
