Faye Plank, 94 died on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 in Dalhart, Texas Services were held at 11:00 am - Monday, October 15, 2007 at Central United Methodist Church. Burial was in West Park Cemetery, Hereford, Texas. Jerry Moore, pastor - Central United Methodist Church and Rev. Dale Locke officiated. Survivors include her Daughter Earleen and her husband Billy Moore of Dalhart, Texas Sons: Pete and his wife Jo Meda Plank of Hillsboro, Texas and Dick and his wife Ruth Plank of Cleveland, Texas and a Brother: Richard and his wife Virginia Winget of Hereford, TX - 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren 3 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren.Faye Winget was born October 15, 1912 in St. Francisville, Illinois to Perry and Nellie (Hardin) Winget. She attended school in Sulpula, OK and graduated High School in 1930 in Pampa, TX. She attended Texas Wesleyan College, Ft. Worth, TX. Married Earl Plank in Pampa, TX. in 1934, and began a 52 year adventure, always active in civic affairs, received many awards for her work with Camp Fire Girls, 4-H, Methodist Women, served on the Hereford Independent School District School Board in 1953 and Deaf Smith County Citizen of the Year in 1960. Moved to Clovis, New Mexico at 65 years of age and began a career as a journalist worked for Clovis News Journal, State Line Tribune and published small local paper of 4-H of Agriculture News. Joined New Mexico Press Women and honored by the National Federated Press Women as Woman of Achievement. In 1981 she moved to Dalhart Texas and worked for the Dalhart Texan almost 20 years- She was active in Meals on Wheels, Senior Center, Keep Dalhart Beautiful, Methodist Open Door Sunday School Class, received Citizen of the Year 1993 Outstanding Achievement in the community from Amarillo Womens Forum 1996, Lifetime Career Achievement Award by Amarillo Womens Network 1997.She was pleased to be nominated by Dalhart Texan for Panhandle Press Hall of Fame 2005 at the age of 93.
