Faye French, age 90, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 after a short battle with lung cancer.Born Ola Faye Pillot, Dec. 16, 1925 to Henry O. and Emma Pillot in Clayton,N. M., she grew up during the Dust Bowl Days, the second of four daughters in Felt, Oklahoma, a tiny little town in the western Oklahoma panhandle where her father was the local blacksmith and her mother taught school in the only one room school house for miles around. This was normal family life with the exception of about a year that the whole family packed up and moved to Waco, Texas in search of work in order to feed the family.Faye was taught at an early age about the Lord and throughout her lifeshe lived as a true and humble Christian. She was truly one of the kindest people Jesus will ever meet.After she graduated from high school she went on to Oklahoma PanhandleState University in Goodwell, Oklahoma where she studied art for acouple years.On August 14, 1945 Faye married John W. French of the Coldwater Community. This date was always lovingly referred to as the day one war (WW II) ended and another one began. She and John lived in Dalhart, Texas where Faye worked for Farmers Home Administration for 29 years.Faye was preceded in death by her parents, her husband , and threechildren, Alenda Faye, Caroline Sue, and John Lee.Survivors include one daughter, Peggy French, and one specialdaughter, Donna Gulledge of Texarkana Texas; two sisters, Mary Jo Bassof Felt Oklahoma; Bobbie Bass of Amarillo, Texas; many nieces andnephews and many friends who have always been thought of as family,and the entire Golden Circle Sunday School class at First BaptistChurch in Texarkana, Texas.Services were held at 2:00 pm Friday, May 13, 2016 at Texarkana Funeral Home,Texarkana, Texas, with Dr. Jeff Schreve officiating. Burial will be 3:00 pm Saturday, May 14, 2016 in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, Texas. Memorial may be made to Golden CircleSunday School Class (Shoebox Ministry), 3015 Moores Lane, Texarkana, Texas 75503 or Friends of the Shelter, 101 Slaton, Nash, Texas 75569.
