Everett Earl Riggs was born January 3, 1921 in Forgan, OK to Robert and Averill(Jury) Riggs. Everett Riggs married Myrtle L. Howell on May 17, 1941 in Goodwell, Oklahoma. In 1944 Everett joined the Army and fought in Europe during WWII, he received several medals including a bronze star with valor. Everett and Myrtle lived in the Tri-State area until the late 60s when they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. In the Early 1980s they returned to the Texas Panhandle. Everett was proud of his service to his country but took more pride in his happy 73 years of marriage and his family. Up until the end he maintained his happy personality and tendency to pull a practical joke. He never backed down from an argument but was prone to switch sides once gaining the upper hand. Everett was a life time member of the VFW, 12th Armored Division Association, and the National Rifle Association. He and Myrtle were active in the Texline First Baptist Church until Myrtles health and then his began to fail. Everett drove the road from Texline to Dalhart daily after moving Myrtle in the nursing home. She was the love of his life and we are happy knowing they have been reunited.
Survivors include a daughter Laurina and her husband Walter Matuska of Los Alamos, New Mexico, a son Charles Riggs and his wife Edene of Denton, TX. 7 Grandchildren and 9 Great grandchildren.
