Gist, Jr., 77 died on Sunday, May 8, 2005 in Dalhart, TXFuneral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2005 at the Liberty Baptist Church in Dalhart with a Graveside Service at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2005 in Texhoma Cemetery, Texhoma, TX Officiating was James Washburn, pastor of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Spearman, TX & Dan Martin, Pastor of the Liberty Baptist Church in Dalhart, TXSurvivors include Daughter: Rhonda & her husband Michael Hininger of Dalhart, TX 3 Sons: Billy & his wife Honey Sue Gist of Bovina, TX Delmer & Cindy Cole of Shamrock, TX Mike & Judy Gist of Hill Air Force Base, UT Brother: Billy Gist of Polson, MT. Sisters: Wanda Gammell of Sturgis, SD & Phyllis Garner of Topeka, KS 10 Grandchildren & 6 Great Grandchildren He is preceded in death by his parents, Sister Evelyn Gist, Wife Betty Gist, Daughter-Samuella & 2 grandchildren: Aaron & Deidre Hininger Everett Horace Gist, Jr. was born February 11, 1928 in Sulfer, Oklahoma to Everett Horace Gist, Sr. & Myrtle Bee (Higgs) Gist. Raised in Texhoma, Oklahoma. He attended school on the Texas side and Oklahoma side. He was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1949 to 1952. Honorably discharged as a Sergeant, Forward Observer. Married Betty Jane Ledbetter, June 16, 1955 in Clayton, New Mexico. Worked for Fred Sweet Ranch for many years in Texhoma, and Hitch Feed yard in Guymon, OK. He graduated from Fort Smith School of Auctioneers in 1971. Went to work for Caprock in 1976 in Leota, KS transferring to Dalhart in 1979, retiring in 1988. Everett loved cattle and horses, he would rather have been on a horse than anywhere else. He team roped & broke horses. Everett & Betty operated the Bryans Corner Restaurant in Bryans Corner, OK from 1965- 1969, before moving to Guymon. Everett worked at several ranches and feedlots in the Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas & Oklahoma areas before making Dalhart his home in 1979.
