Evelyn Ruth Nappier Potter was born in Albuquerque, NM on August 22, 1933 and peacefully went to be with Jesus on January 16th, 2019.
Celebration of life was held at New Life Fellowship in Dalhart, TX on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Come as you are and worship the Lord. Graveside services followed in Texline, TX.
Evelyn Nappier married her love, Norman Potter on June 26th, 1951 in Fort Sumner, NM. Together they had 5 children that they raised in various homes in CO, NM and TX, eventually settling in Texline, TX in 1974. Evelyn spent her life as a homemaker and a servant to anyone around her. She was active in Clayton Gospel Church and Clayton Trinity Fellowship for several years, where she made a difference in the lives of many she encountered. She was respected by the youth and had a way of making sure you knew you were important, but she still held you accountable for your actions.
She showed her love and affection by making sure you always had a full stomach in her presence. She never had an idle hand and was always busy picking up. She will always be remembered for her homemade macaroni and cheese and biscuits. Evelyn loved her dogs and cared for them long after Norman made his journey to heaven. After moving to Amarillo in 2015, she began to care for the birds around her little home, even making them homemade pans of biscuits.
She went by many names; Mama, Evelyn, Mrs. P., DeeDee, Grandma, and Gramstens, but she knew her identity was in the Lord and was never shy about telling anyone. She never missed a chance to witness and pass on the love of her Savior.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norman Potter, and her daughter Sheresa Causey.
She will be greatly missed by her kids; Bruce Potter of Dalhart, TX, Sheryl James and husband Kenneth of Prescott, AZ, Brian Potter and wife Denise of Dalhart, TX, and Sharon Mackey and husband Ronnie of Amarillo, TX; 17 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren; her brothers Vance Nappier and Wife Marilyn of Fort Worth, TX, Jon Nappier and wife Cindy of Ft. Worth, TX; loved ones Butch Like, Quinn Courtney, Sue Foster, Misty Griego, Cody Causey, and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Abundantly Blessed and Kindred Hospice for the care they provided Evelyn during her last days.
