Ernest Sandoval, 86, passed away Monday, November 18, 2019 in Amarillo, TX Visitation was Thursday, November 21, 2019, at Horizon Funeral Home. Visitation was also held in Clayton, New Mexico on Friday, November 22, 2019, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. (Mountain Time) at Hass Funeral Home. Graveside services were held Saturday November 23, 2019 at 10: 00 a.m. (Mountain time) at Clayton Memorial Cemetery in Clayton, New Mexico. Officiating was Reverend Hilario Perez of the First Baptist Church of Clayton, New Mexico. Services under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart, Texas. Ernest was born May 18, 1933 in Pasamonte, New Mexico to Robert and Lonicia Sandoval. He was raised in Pasamonte and went to school in Clayton, New Mexico and graduated from Clayton High School in 1952. Ernest served at the end of the Korean War from April 21, 1953 to April 22, 1955. He then attended Midwest Business College in Pueblo, Colorado. After graduation he worked as a Telegraph Clerk for the railroad, later retiring from the Union Pacific Railroad. Upon retiring Ernest worked for Hannas Furniture Exchange Ernest enjoyed riding his Yamaha 650 motorcycle, riding horses, collecting coins and watching football. He was an avid Texas Rangers Fan. Ernest is survived by his sons: Philip Sandoval and wife Tonya of Amarillo, TX, Robert Sandoval of Amarillo, TX , and Ernest Sandoval Jr. of Dalhart, TX, his three brothers: Carman Sandoval of Trinidad, Colorado, Paul Sandoval of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Dennis Sandoval of Las Cruces, New Mexico and one sister: Esther Udkler of San Antonio, Texas. Three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Ernest is preceded in death by his wife Emma, his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
