Erminia Torres (Mendoza), 74 of Dalhart, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 1, 2023. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 10:00AM on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Deacon Louis Artho, St Francis of Amarillo. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00PM on Tuesday at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Immediately following, a Rosary will be recited at 7:00PM. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home. Erminia was born on April 2, 1948 to Lorenzo and Concepcion Torres in Lyford, TX. She married Joel Mendoza, Sr. on July 4, 1966 in Johnson City, KS. They went on to have 6 children together, moving frequently due to Joel farming and ranching but finally settling in Dalhart, TX. After being a homemaker for many years and raising her children, she went to work for Coon Memorial Nursing Home in the kitchen and then at the BEALLS Dept Store. Her heart was always with her children and the families they each created. She resided in Dalhart in her own home until her battle with Alzheimers required her to move into Coon Memorial Nursing Home, where she lived until her passing. Erminia was a devoted Catholic and a member of St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death her parents: Lorenzo & Concepcion Torres; husband: Joel Mendoza, Sr; daughter: Marie Hernandez; sisters: Irma Torres, Theodora Mendoza, Guadalupe Camacho, Concepcion Zavala and Rosa Torres. Erminia is survived by her children: Joel Mendoza Jr (Leslie) of Dalhart TX, Gilbert Mendoza (Crystal) of Spearman, TX, Sandra Guardiola (Jesus) of Dalhart TX, Linda Ballew (Donnie) of Dalhart TX and Albert Mendoza (Tonya) of Dalhart TX; 17 Grandchildren: Brandt Mendoza (Raquel) of Hereford TX, Steven Mendoza (Jarah) of Amarillo TX, Trey Mendoza (Anthony) of Oklahoma City OK, Stephanie Mendoza (Austin) of Spearman TX, Chase Mendoza (Raquel) of Canyon TX, Shaina Arroyo (Joseph) of Dalhart TX, Megan Larson (Scott) of Amarillo TX, Stetson Mendoza (Abigail) of Canyon TX, Tierra Mendoza (Ben) of Dalhart TX, AJ Mendoza of Dalhart TX, Saharra Ballew of Amarillo TX, BJ Mendoza of Dalhart TX, Justin Barrera (Whitney) of Azle TX, Aleesia Mendoza (Kaden) of Minot ND, Kelsie Ballew of Amarillo TX, Amber Mendoza (BW) of Lubbock TX and Nydia Hernandez of Dalhart TX; 18 great grandchildren with one on the way; 6 sisters; 2 brothers and numerous nieces & nephews, and other family and friends.
