Emma Lee Palmer Smith, 79, died Sunday, August 23, 2015 in Dumas, Texas.Funeral Services were held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 24, 2015 at Central United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Steve Patterson, Pastor of Central United Methodist Church. - Under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home.Emma was born in Plainview, TX to Garland and Pluma Lee Rogers Palmer on August 24, 1935. She was raised in the Coldwater community. She attended school there until high school. She graduated from Dalhart High school in 1954. In 1956 she married Weldon Sonny Smith. The couple had five children.Emma was a member of the Central United Methodist Church. She was very active in the community. She loved bowling, reading, quilting, crocheting, sewing, visiting, and traveling. She was a sweet, loving, and caring mother and friend to everyone she met, always meeting the needs of others before her own and touched the hearts of many. She will truly be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, and a son.Emma is survived by three daughters: Stephanie Smith Finley and Carrie Smith Usher of Dalhart, and Lisa Smith Thompson and husband Bobby of Whitewright, TX, one son Lesley Smith of Texline, TX, one sister Geneva Pullen of Canyon, fifteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
