Elizabeth M. Saunders, 91, died Monday, December 24, 2012 in Dalhart, Texas Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 28, 2012 at the First Baptist Church. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, TX. Elizabeth Marie Williams was born January 28, 1921 in Carrizo Springs, TX to R.W. and Eva Dee (Vandervoort) Williams. She was raised on her family ranch at Carrizo Springs and after graduating from High School she attended Baylor University where she got her Bachelors Degree in Fashion Design and Coordination. After graduation she returned home and bought the towns dress shop which she operated until she sold it in March of 1951. Elizabeth Williams married David Hollis Saunders on April 21, 1951 in Carrizo Springs, Texas. David died in December of 2004. They moved to a ranch near Hayden, NM and ranched until 1970, when they moved to Dalhart and opened Saunders Oil Company. They closed the oil company in 1990 and purchased the H&R Block tax office, which they sold in 1997. Elizabeth Saunders was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dalhart, Texas.Survivors include son: James Patrick Pat and his wife Dianne Saunders North Richland Hills, TX Daughters: Susie and her husband James Hale of Stratford, TX and Kelly Wood of North Richaland Hills, TX 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.Preceded in death by her parents, her husband David, and 1 grandson - Ty Young.
