Elijah Cole Chavez, 2 years old of Dalhart, TX, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026. A Memorial Service officiated by Kurtis Abla, will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in the Dalhart Funeral Home Chapel. Elijah's family has entrusted his care to Dalhart Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

My sweet baby boy, Elijah Cole Chavez, you came into this world on October 15, 2023, and from that very first breath, you changed mine forever. But on February 25, 2026, when you left this earth, you took a piece of my heart with you that I know I will never get back.

There are not enough words in this world to explain what you mean to me. You were my light, my joy, my greatest blessing. You loved the simplest things so purely. Snuggles were your favorite place to be, tucked into my arms like that was exactly where God designed you to fit. You loved to laugh, and that laugh… it could lift the heaviest day and turn it into something bright. We never truly got to hear you speak words, but you spoke to us in a hundred other ways. In your giggles, in your sparkling eyes, in the way you reached for me. Your joy didn’t need language. It filled every room all on its own.

You loved Elmo, and you loved rolling your little Hot Wheels cars across the dining room floor with your big sister Aeris. I can still see you there, so content, so happy, just being you. You were the sweetest boy anyone could have ever known, and I will forever be grateful that I got to be your mommy.

Your time with us was far too short, but every moment was a gift I will treasure for the rest of my life. Every cuddle, every smile, every tiny hand wrapped around my finger is etched into my soul. You were so loved, Elijah. By me, by your daddy Robert, by your big sisters Aeris and Sammie who adored you more than you’ll ever know. You were cherished by your great-grandmother Vinita, your grandfather Jack, your grandmother Lena, your aunties Niki and Leta, and by so many others whose lives you touched in your short but beautiful time here.

I hold on to the hope that you are now with the family you never got to meet on this side of heaven, wrapped in arms that are just as loving, whole and free from anything that could ever hurt you. I imagine you laughing, running, shining even brighter than you did here. Until I see you again, my precious Elijah, know that Mommy loves you beyond words, beyond time, beyond this life itself. You will always be my baby. Always
