Montez was born December 1, 1926 in Hidalgo County, Texas to Manuel and Elvida (Montemayor) Montez. She married Victor Vasquez on April 24, 1944 in Plainview, TX . They farmed in the Plainview, Lubbock area before moving to Dalhart in 1972. Victor died in 2003. Elida was a loving wife, mother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.
