Eldon D. Slim Chandler died on Thursday, February 22, 2007 in Dalhart, TX.Services were held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at the Dalhart Church of Christ with Dean Whaley, Minister of the Dalhart Church of Christ officiating Eldon Duane "Slim" Chandler was born February 19, 1926 in Ropesville, TX to Wesley P. and Chloe J. (Owens) Chandler. Slim married Othella Stephens on March 31, 1945 in Lubbock, TX They moved to Dalhart in 1955. He was a distributor for Morton Foods. He later went to work for Texas Department of Transportation and retired after 27 years.An avid hunter, Slim enjoyed the outdoors and was an award winning trap shooter. Slim enjoyed working with his hands and made custom knives that will remain a part of his legacy for years to come. Mr. Chandler was a member of the Dalhart Masonic Lodge #869He is survived by his wife Othella Chandler of Dalhart, Texas 1 son Victor D. Chandler and his wife Jan of Dalhart, TX and a daughter Paula D. Foote and her husband Carl of Tucumcari, NM - 7 grandchildren: Wesley Foote his wife Amanda of Prescott, AZ - Toby Foote and his wife Daniell of Prescott, AZ Rebekah Foote Peterson and her husband Gideon of Roswell, NM Tracey Foote of Tucumcari, NM Dan Minter of Dalhart, TX Tammie Galyon of Lubbock, TX Tonnia Williams and her husband Danny of Denver City, TX - 9 Great Grandchildren: Chance Kitchen of Lubbock, TX T.J.
