Name: E. H. Little, 84, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013 in Dahart, Texas Services were held at 2:00 pm Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Dalhart. Burial was in the Texline Cemetery, Texline, Texas with arrangements by Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart, Texas.Earl H. Little, Jr., was born May 2, 1929 in the Westway Community near Hereford, TX to Earl Homer Little and Gracie May "Bransford" Little. E.H. was a Christian, first and foremost. He was a Deacon at Texline Baptist Church, Sunday School Superintendent at Texline for 25 years and a founder of Cowboy Church as well as a loyal member of FBC Dalhart for over 20 years. Not everyone knew of the talent E.H. possessed as a poet, but he shared his love for the Lord through his writings, such as Gods Greatness.On June 2, 1947 E.H. and Marcia Marie Robbins were married. They moved to the Texline (Draper community) in 1954 and were married for 37 years until her death in 1984. On January 3, 1987 E.H. married Loretta (Rita) Sharon Frye, and they were married for 26 years.His career as a law enforcement officer spanned 42 years and included Dallam County Deputy Sheriff 12 years Dallam County Sheriff 17 years and Constable 13 years. E.H. was a pillar of the community and served as a Director of XIT Telephone Co-op, as well as on the Board of Directors for the XIT Rangers. He was a 4-H leader, and enjoyed working with children to instill his love of agriculture and was a role model for many. E.H. had a vast career not only as a horseman, rancher, and farmer, but he was a gentleman and a real cowboy, as well. He worked cattle just for the fun of it, and loved XIT. He rode in the XIT Rodeo Parade for 50 years in a row, and competed in and won the Pony Express Race and Wild Cow Milking events numerous times.E.H. was not only a counselor and advisor to many, but he was a true friend to everyone he met (including some whom he arrested). He was a father figure for many, inside and outside of his family and he will be dearly missed.Survivors include: wife Rita Little; daughters Peggy Foster and husband, James, Becky Baxter and husband, Victor, Sharon Matthews and husband, Jim Bob, Melissa Frye; son Kevin Frye and wife, Leslie. Grandchildren: Patty Gilliam and husband, Danny, James Foster, Jr. and wife, Penny, Megan Wise and husband, Eric, Daniel Baxter, Mycah Baxter, Cole Baxter, Jacob Van Pelt and wife, Amanda, Jared Van Pelt and wife, Adriene, Joebe Matthews, Jacky Joe Matthews, Stephanie Ellis and husband, Ty, Hanna Grace Frye, Weston Frye. Great-grandchildren: Abigail, Rachel and husband, Dustin, Michelle, Robyn, Brittany, Parker, Marshall, Carson, Sydney Grace, Jackson Heath, and Carter. Great-great-grandchild: Aria.He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Eugene and Wayne (Pete) Little; sister Nanette Reeves; wife Marcia Robbins Little; grandchildren Stacie Kay Foster and Heath Oneal Frye.In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in honor of E.H. to Cowboy Church, c/o First Baptist Church, 1000 E. 16th St., Dalhart, TX 79022 or CMH Hospice, 320 Texas Blvd., Dalhart, TX 79022.
