Dr. Edwinna Arnold, 94, was called to her new home in heaven by her Heavenly Father, Monday morning, January 16, 2012, 1 day after her birthday.Funeral Services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at First Baptist Church Chapel, Dalhart, TX Retired Baptist Minister, Bob McAlister officiated.Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, Texas.Edwinna Broyles Arnold was born January 25, 1918 in New Orleans, LA to Marshel and Loys Broyles. Edwinnas father passed away when she was 12 yrs old.Edwinna later married Harry Vernon Arnold in 1935 at Mexoma, Oklahoma, and they both entered Chiropractic studies under Palmer Institute and graduated in November 1946. They began their practice under the guidance of Dr. Story in Clayton, NM. About a year later they moved to Dalhart and opened their practice here in Dalhart with a long successful business until Doc Arnold passed away in 1985. Edwinna continued to practice for many years and retired in 1999.Dr. Edwinna Arnold was a wonderful woman of faith and integrity that lasted a life-time. Even up to the time of her passing she was of sound mind and very independent except for her very special friend and caretaker for many years, Gayle Hoffman. Gayle was not only a next door neighbor for several years but was a faithful friend who gave many years of her life to caring for her friend Edwinna. Since there were no children in her family, Gayle was closer than a daughter and looked after her as if she were her mother. Gayle will miss watching after her for years to come.Dr. Arnold was a very devout Christian and loved the Lord and when she was no longer able to go to church, because she was legally blind, her and Gayle would watch and listen on the radio and TV. She looked forward to her friends, ladies from the church and church staff that would come by her house and just visit.Dr. Edwinna Arnold is survived by Eugene Clements and wife Clara of Staton, TX and her many friends that would drive her and Gayle to and from doctors appointments in Amarillo.Doc Arnold is survived by a niece, Wilma Schwemmer of Wichita, KS.Edwinna was preceded in death by her parents and several cousins, nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers memorial can be made to The Roc at First Baptist Church 1000 E 16th Street Dalhart, TX
