Eddie Bob Burkhalter, 87, of Dalhart, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, in Dalhart, to be reunited with his wife Charlene, who predeceased him in 2014. He will be buried next to her at Manitou Cemetery, Manitou, Oklahoma on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Eddie was born February 17, 1934, in Tipton, Oklahoma, to Eddie Bee Burkhalter and Sophia Velma Strickland. He married Edna Charlene Courtney on August 27, 1952, in Vernon, Texas. They lived in Manitou, Tipton, and Vernon before moving to Dalhart in 1966, which became their permanent hometown. In Dalhart, Eddie owned and operated the Dairy Inn and helped operate the family businesses of Burkhalters Travelers Inn and Burkhalter Chevrolet, where he remained working under other owners until his retirement in 2020. Eddie was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church, where he once served as deacon. Eddie is survived by three children (Vicki, Karen, and Steven), five grandchildren (Derek, Brandy, Brittany, Kaleesi, and Stevie), and four great-grandchildren (Rachel, Gage, Baylor, and Boyd).
