Dr. Santiago David Ramirez, 65, died on Sunday, March 5, 2017 in Dallas, TX.Services were held at St Anthonys of Padua Catholic Church, Dalhart, TX. Prayer services were held at 7:30 pm on Thursday, March 9, 2017Funeral Mass was held at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 10, 2017Burial did follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the care of Horizon Funeral Home.Officiating was by Monsignor Michael Colwell, Pastor of St. Anthonys of Padua Catholic Church, Dalhart, TX. Dr. Ramirez was born in Dalhart, Texas December 9, 1951 to the parents of Lupe and Alice Ramirez. Dr. Ramirez attended St. Anthonys School in Dalhart and Alamo Catholic School in Amarillo. After graduating high school Dr. Ramirez went to College in multiple cities from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to St. Louis, Missouri. During his attendance to multiple higher education institutions, Dr. Ramirez also attended the Catholic seminary. Dr. Ramirez graduated with his bachelors degree in education in 1970. Soon after, Dr. Ramirez began his education career as an instructor in secondary education. While teaching for the State of Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma, Dr. Ramirez also went on to receive his Masters in Divinity, Masters in Arts, Masters in Historical Theology and finally a Doctor of Philosophy in Historical Theology. Dr. Ramirez was the first Latino to get accepted to the University of St. Louis school of Theology. Dr. Ramirez also adjunct for multiple catholic universities during his tenure as a educator. Dr. Ramirez was survived by 2 sisters, 1 brother, and multiple nieces and nephews. They were the following: Rose Martinez, Mary Justiniano, Johnny Ray Ramirez; Dr. Shane Martinez, Alice Martinez, Bryant Martinez, AJ Archuleta, Tim Encinas, Sami Martinez; Zachariah Martinez, Tavia Martinez, Maya Martinez, Raydan Martinez, Caryce n Caydence Guerrero, Ezekiel Guerrero, Martina Guerrero, Brielle Encinias, Rose Mary Ramirez, Debbie Padgett, Chaplain Jerrod Ramirez.
