Dorothy Jean Womble, 89 of Dalhart, passed away on December 9, 2022. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 3:00pm Monday, December 12, 2022 in Memorial Park Cemetery with Jeremy McMorris officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home. Dorothy Jean Womble passed away peacefully on December 9 2022. Jean was born on August 11 1933 in Phillips Texas to Ebenezer and Opal Williams. She moved to Dalhart and met and married AJ Womble on March 7, 1949. AJ and Jean farmed east of Perico and raised their five children, Joe, Gary, Jan, Rick and Sherry on the family farm. When they moved to town they purchased and ran the Green Gables Motel, then the Rita Blanca Motel. Jean also sold Avon as a sideline. Jean loved fishing and spent a lot of time at Ute lake with family and friends. Jean had a big personality that people gravitated to and turned many friends into family members. She was always cooking dinners for all her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her Husband AJ, her son Gary and all of her 13 brothers and sisters. She is survived by son Joe Womble and wife Charlene, daughter Jan Prater and Husband Ronny, son Rick Womble and wife Rhonda, and daughter Sherry Trulock. Also 15 grandkids, 33 great grandkids, and 8 great great grandkids. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
