Dorothy Childers Cline, 101, passed away on March 22, 2023, due to a stroke. A Memorial Mass is scheduled for 10:00AM on Friday, April 21, 2023 at t. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Father Lawrence John celebrating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home. Dorothy was born in Dalhart, Texas on August 30, 1921, the fourth of six sisters. The family lived on a farm just outside Dalhart and she would occasionally drive her older sister to high school in town in a large seven passenger Buick when she was just twelve years old. She and her family also survived the Dust Bowl. She graduated from high school in 1939 and studied at Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison, Kansas before returning to Dalhart in 1942 to work at the Army Air Base. After World War II ended, Dorothy moved to Albuquerque to work at Sandia Base. A mutual friend introduced her to her future husband, Don Cline, and they were married about a year and a half later in September of 1947. Their son John came along in 1953 and Jeffrey in 1955. Right after John was born, they moved to Dalhart and came back to Albuquerque in early 1960. Dorothy was active in the Women's Auxiliary at St. Joseph's Hospital, was an avid Bridge player, and a member of Annunciation Catholic Church. Dorothy was, in a word, unflappable, she had a philosophy that served to get her to almost 102 years old; she was not going to worry about something until she knew what to worry about, and then would only worry if there was actuallysomething she could do about it. She had a major stroke in October of 2017 but against all odds and her doctor's predictions, she made a virtually full recovery. In the five years since, she had lived at home with help from her amazing caregiver Patricia, was mentally very sharp, maintained her dry sense of humor, was always in a good mood and in remarkably good health, and never complained about anything... ever. Her husband Don passed away in 2004. Dorothy is survived by her sons: John and Jeffrey of Albuquerque; her granddaughters: Jamie (Chase) Abraham of Atlanta and Lindsey (Drew) Stair of Phoenix; her great-grandson: Logan Stair; and her sister: Louise (Gene) Rahll of Dalhart.
