Dorothy Nell Bailey, 86, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 in Amarillo, TXServices were held at 2:00 PM Friday, July 31, 2009 in the Hartley Baptist Church. Bobby Cates, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Slidell, TX and Rusty Hancock, Pastor of Lincoln Street Baptist Church, Dalhart, TX officiated. Burial followed in the Hartley Cemetery with Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart, TX Dorothy Nell Fletcher was born September 15, 1922 in Hartley, TX to Alfred and Lou Ella Fletcher. She was raised in Hartley and attended Hartley High School. On January 14, 1941 she married Charles Bailey in Guymon, OK. In the early 50s they left the Texas Panhandle but returned in the mid 60s. In 1968, at the age of 46, Dorothy went back to school and received her LVN from Amarillo College in 1970. She worked for St. Anthonys Hospital until she retired in 1981. She returned to Dalhart area in 1995. Dorothy was a member of the Lincoln Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and Crossword puzzles. Her love for her family ran deep; she traveled many miles to visit them.Dorothy is survived by her sons: Charles Bailey and his wife Judy of Lubbock, TX Carl Bailey and his wife Peggy of Dalhart, TX Roy Bailey and his wife Carolyn of McLean, TX and Dale Bailey and his wife Tamra of Pampa, TX - her daughters: Dorothy and her husband Ron Couturier of Las Vegas, NV Nancy and her husband Art Scott of New Braunfels, TX and Ella Cates of Azle, TX - 2 Brothers: Knot Fletcher and his wife Betty of Hartley, TX and Richard Black of Denver, CO. - 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.She if preceded in death by her husband Charles, her parents, 3 sisters and 1 brotherMemorial to: Open Arms Therapy (Equine Therapeutic Riding Center) 1404 Channing St. Dalhart, TX 79022
