Doris Virginia Laney, 95, of Dalhart, Texas passed away September 4, 2017.Doris was born in Canadian, Texas October 9, 1921 to Austin and Lelia Brown. She was predeceased by her husband, Sylvan Myrel Laney and daughter Alena Schwarz as well as two sons in laws, Danny Frazier and Buford Schwarz. She is survived by one son, Leon Laney and wife Judy, two daughters, Myrlene Frazier and Shirley Estes along with her husband, Jamie. Eighteen grandchildren, two grand pups, forty-eight great grandchildren and thirty great great grandchildren as well as innumerable adopted by love kids all over the world also survive her. Early in life Doris dreamed of becoming a physician, even though that wasnt a typical goal for women of her era. However, she started with her second passion for photography while going to a business college in Amarillo, Texas. Both passions were abruptly interrupted by a handsome, headstrong Oklahoman who quickly became her new focus and love. She never fully realized her professional dreams, because she chose to sacrifice hers to selflessly support those of her husbands and her childrens. Throughout life her priorities were to honor God, love her family and equally love and serve everyone she met. In choosing to prefer others over herself, she became a mother to many more than she birthed, a counselor better than the best psychologist, a consoler as the most compassionate mother, a faithful, fun loving friend always keeping confidences close and an encouraging and empowering promoter of others dreams and destinies. Did she become a well-known photographer No, but the creative images developed in her darkroom of prayer, became the hope and beauty reflected on everyone she met.Did she ever receive her doctorate in medicine No, but she mended every broken heart that came her way and nursed the wounds of others as if they were her own. Doris didnt achieve earths accolades of professionalism but, she impacted both the world and eternity with her prophetic wisdom, worshipful musicianship, tenacious integrity and boundless love. She graced earth with her birth on Sunday, Oct. 9, 1921...The heroine whose name is not well known in history books...but, shouted in Heaven as a shining example of humility & honor. She ceased earthly labor, entering Heaven on Labor Day, Sept. 4, 2017.Now eternity echoes her greatness and angels bow their heads at earth's loss. Well done good, honest, loving, selfless, spunky, praying, prophetic, wise, faithful servant...enter your rest, it is well with your soul...you loved and lived a long time...now we have to learn to live without you walking beside us.We love you, Mom!"If you love life and want to live a good, long time, Take care with the things you say. Dont lie or spread gossip or talk about improper things. Walk away from the evil things of the world, and always seek peace and pursue it."
