Donna Mae Lenz-Cote, 88, of Dalhart, Texas passed away peacefully on July 8, 2022. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:0am on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Father Ron as celebrant. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30am directly before mass. Interment will be at a later date in Iowa. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home.
Donna (Schoon) was born in Pomeroy, Iowa on May 28, 1934. She married Theodore H. Lenz on December 28, 1953. They began their marriage in Alabama while Ted served in the military. November 23, 1954, she became Catholic. She had a great love for music and St. Cecelia, the patron saint for musicians became her Confirmation Christian name. In 1955 they started their family, raising 12 children. Her faith was a strong foundation and guide for her role as wife and mother. Donna dedicated her life to her family, and she had an exceptional ability to make each child feel unique. Her many talents and hobbies include crocheting, needlepoint, oil painting and gardening. She was an excellent cook and loved playing card during family gatherings. After the death of Ted in 2013, Donna married Donald Cote of Colorado Springs, CO, in the fall of 2014.
Donna is survived by her children Randy and Cynthia Lenz, Dalhart, TX, Brian and Cindy Lenz, Onawa, IA, Charles and Donna Lenz, Dalhart, TX, Cara Brenza, Albuquerque, NM, Wade and Toni Lenz, Hartley, TX, Nancy and Rod Walter, Dalhart, TX, Patrick and Renae Lenz, Dalhart, TX, Beth and Cory Acton, Amarillo, TX, Melinda and Michael Beck, Texarkana, TX, and Michael and Selena Lenz, White Deer, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Margaret Schoon, husband Theodore, daughter Christie Miers-Beer, and son Steven T. Lenz.
Donna loved her 27 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, who will miss her dearly.
