Donald Ray Smith, 84, died Saturday, October 1, 2016 at his sons home in Hartley, TX.Services were held on Friday, October 7th, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the Hartley Christian Fellowship Church with burial in Hartley Cemetery, Hartley, TX.Donald Ray Smith was born March 3, 1932 in Hartley, Texas to Byron Earl Smith and Viola Pearl (Coe) Smith. He graduated from Hartley High School in 1951. On May 5, 1956 Donald married Barbara Bullard in Clayton, NM. They lived in Hartley where he farmed before going to work for Rita Blanca Electric in the late 70s. Barbara died in 1994. Donald retired from RBE in 1996 and began working for his sons business - Field of Dreams Lawn Care. Mr. Smith loved basketball and was a tried and true Boston Celtics fan. He so loved watching his kids and grandkids play basketball and many other things they did. Survivors include daughter Laura Field and her husband Jon Mack of Amarillo, TX and a son Michael Smith and his wife Toni of Hartley, TX. Grandsons Lance and his wife Brittany Field of Amarillo, TX, Brett and his wife Liz Field of Amarillo, TX, Hayden Smith of Amarillo, TX, Aaron Smith of Amarillo, TX and Collin Smith of Hartley, TX and granddaughters Katy (Field) Distler and her husband Jamie of Geneva, OH and Alexa (Welch) Alderson and her husband Mark of Jewett, TX and 8 Great-Grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, a son: Glenn Ray, his parents, and a brother Ronald Smith. Memorials may be made to Hartley ISD, P.O.
