Funeral Services will be at 2:00pm on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church with Troy Scroggins officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Beecher will lay in state from 1-5:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Immediately following, also at the funeral home, the family will receive friends from 5:00-700pm. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home. Don was born to Louis and Louise Beecher on April 27, 1935 in Melrose, Minnesota. As a young boy, he played and worked on the family farm along with his younger brother Eugene in Sauk Centre, MN. While growing up, Don enjoyed showing his prize Jerseys; winning ribbons, trophies, and even taking the grand prize. Don also loved his pet crow, Creepy. At the age of 12, he would often get out to pick up his girl, Marge (all of nine, herself) on his Cushman motor scooter and together they would go out and shoot squirrels for supper. Nine years later, as destiny would have it; the two were married. After a year of marriage, they moved out west to Hood River, Oregon, where Don worked as a lineman for Collins Electric Powerlines. Don and Marge eventually moved back to Minnesota to help out on the farm and to start their own family, adopting three children: Donn Lee, Larry, and Debra. He taught his children to work hard, be honest, be helpful, and how to have fun. He sponsored foreign exchange students to teach them farming in the lovely Minnesota winter weather. Despite all of this, the arrangement worked well; producing both high yields as well as lifelong friendships. Don always found time to have fun; from winning trophies in tractor pulls to receiving his pilot license in 1974. In 1975, as fate would have it, he and some friends flew to Texas in his Cessna where it was decided to sell the farm in Minnesota and move his family to Dalhart. The plan was that the family would farm there as well as over in Durant, Oklahoma. However, shortly after arriving, Don and the Beecher family realized extreme humidity levels in southern Oklahoma, inspired Don and a friend to start a trucking company in 1980. Later, he and Marge invested in real estate where he held strictly a strategic role; offering up the same proposal anytime his team was ever in need: "Let me know if there is anything I can say to help!" Don was a hard-working man. Don was a wonderful father, and a loving husband. He enjoyed spending time with his family and went out of his way to make sure they always had fun. Some of the fondest memories were on the houseboat, fishing and swimming with family, and just hanging out together. Don also liked to travel including to Alaska for deep-sea fishing with his brother Gene or to Australia to visit his dear friend Wayne. Most recently Don worked tirelessly on his reclining skills and was highly regarded as an avid napper often heard saying his chair was calling him whenever he wasnt in it. Don selflessly lived his life for his Lord, his family and his community. He felt strongly about leading the family in the Lord. Don will be truly missed and always remembered for all the blessings of having him in our lives. Don Beecher is survived by his wife Marjorie Beecher who were together for 75 years, 66 of which they were married. Additionally, his 3 children: Donn Lee Beecher (wife Lynne), Larry Beecher (wife Janel) and Debra Sims (husband Phil) and 7 grandchildren: Josh Beecher (wife Kayla), Jessica Beecher, Jake Beecher (wife Alissa), Briggen Beecher, Kamilia Burks, Kirsten Sims, Lillie Sims and 4 great-grandchildren: Kreed Beecher, Kaydence Beecher, Karsyn Beecher and Kasen Beecher.
