Don Short, 84, died Tuesday, November 17, 2015 in Clayton, NM. Graveside Services were held at 2:00 pm CST on Friday, November 20, 2015 in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, Texas. The officiant was Rusty Hancock, Pastor of Lincoln Street Baptist Church, Dalhart, Texas. Don Edward Short was born March 19, 1931 in Lubbock, TX to Cleo and Charlie Boon Short. He grew up around Floyd, NM. Don married Geneva June McCleskey on December 27, 1950 in Portales, NM. They lived in Portales and Lubbock before moving to Dalhart in 1968.Survivors include his sons: Gary Short of Amarillo, TX and Doug Short and his wife Stacy of Graham, TX - daughters: Kayla Doss of Chicago, IL, Karen Berg and her husband Gary of NC, Kathy Swain and her husband Chuck of IA and Kim Speer and her husband Roy of Sedan, NM. 16 Grandchildren and 18 Great-Grandchildren.Preceded in death by his parents, his wife Geneva, a son Donley, as well as 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
