Don Winfield Ingram was the only son of Pearl and Cecil Ingram. He celebrated his 63rd birthday April 22, 2023. Don lived his first 38years at home with his mother and dad. His parents owned and operated the Dalhart Municipal Airport. Cecil, a pilot and instructor, and Pearl, also a pilot, flew Don on many adventures including the Albuquerque Balloon Festivals numerous times. They took him to Branson a half-dozen times to attend many shows. He was flown to Stillwater Oklahoma to witness his uncle Cliffords receiving his Doctorate Degree. Pearls sister Betty owned a place on Grand Lake Oklahoma where he enjoyed many boating experiences. Two times he was flown to Georgia to visit with aunts, uncles and cousins. Don was flown to Tulsa to visit Uncle Clifford and Aunt Sandra many times. He absolutely loved his frequent flying with his dad. There were many other flying adventures for than the ones mentioned here. On one occasion his Uncle Clifford became very ill in the hospital and Pearl and Cecil didnt want to take Don into that situation, so they arranged for Don to stay at Coon Memorial Home for a few days. Later, they were very surprised that Don wanted to live at Coon Memorial Home. He loved all the activity and attention lavished upon him and wanted to be there. Don made his home there for 25 years starting in 1998. To Dons last day he was joyously happy at Coon Memorial Home. His smile, sense of humor, and wonderful attitude would light up a room and he was loved by everyone who knew him. Don loved his church. He attended regularly until Covid. After Covid, Karl Woods picked him up in Dons van and brought him to church. Don loved his Cowboys. Karl also picked up Don and brought him to the church parsonage to watch the Cowboys on many occasions. They fondly referred to Dons van as the Cowboy Express. Don would get pretty excited watching those Cowboys. An outpouring of wonderful remarks has been received regarding Don. The employees and volunteers at Coon Memorial Home, his home, have said so much. Here are just a few of the messages received: "You are home Donnie. Thanks for giving all of us your uplifting spirit. Love your laugh and your giggle when you won Bingo. Til we meet again, fly with the Angels." "You are so loved my boy by so many of us." "Heaven gained a precious angel! Don had THE most contagious smile and laugh of anyone I ever met. When he got tickled and laughed you couldnt help but get tickled along with him. He was a constant comfort at First Christian Church in Dalhart and was loved by everyone there! I know Pearl was so thankful for the caregivers at the Home for all they did for him. Rest in peace Don!! You were so loved."! ... "One of my favorite summers in high school was sitting with Don. He made me laugh daily." "What a sad day for us but oh so joyful day for Don. He is walking into the arms of Jesus, completely healed, and reunited with his wonderful parents. His life was a blessing to so many. We will miss him." Don was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Pearl Ingram. He is survived by his Uncle Clifford and Aunt Sandra Shea of Tulsa Oklahoma.
