Dewitt Cash, 90, died on April 16, 2006 in Amarillo, Texas.Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2006 at First Baptist Church with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, Texas under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, Texas. Officiating was Rodney Weatherly, Minister of the First Baptist Church.Wilburn Dewitt Cash was born on October 1, 1915 in Hedley, TX to Pleasant W. and Mabel (Mendenhall) Cash. He graduated from Dalhart High School. He was a farm hand prior to entering into WWII and was a letter carrier for over 22yrs after returning to Dalhart. Dewitt was married to Bernice Webster she died on June 22, 1985. Mr. Cash was a highly decorated Veteran of WWII and on December 10, 2004 he received belated recognition from the U.S. Government for Six overdue medals and the honorable Service Lapel pin. He quietly thanked everyone and blended into the crowd. Thats Dewitt. quietly watching and listening. Survivors: 1 sister Theresa Adrian Black of Woodward, OK 2 sister-in-laws: Vada Allison of Amarillo, TX and Loraine Webster of Amarillo, TX and Numerous Nieces and Nephews Preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Bernice Webster Cash 2 brothers Pleasant Kenneth Cash & Robert Lynn Cash - and five sisters: Minnie Jane Berry, Mabel Marie Cash, Wilma Lee Frazier, Kathryn Josephine Ainsworth, Ruby Lloyd Frazier.
